The City of Johns Creek was abuzz with excitement and cultural richness at the Atlanta Athletic Club fields, where the community gathered to celebrate the Lunar New Year. As proud sponsors, The Awesome Team Foundation was thrilled to contribute to this vibrant celebration that brought together tastes, traditions, and artistic expressions from across Asia.
The event was marked by an array of engaging activities, including a special impromptu Chinese brush painting demonstration by renowned artist Tehwan Tso and stunning calligraphy by Jackie Chen, which were the highlights. Tehwan’s skilled brushstrokes brought to life the delicate beauty of flowers, captivating attendees with the ancient art form's elegance and simplicity. Meanwhile, Jackie Chen demonstrated his mastery of calligraphy with precise and beautiful strokes, showcasing the artful tradition of Chinese writing. For our younger attendees, the foundation also hosted craft and art-making sessions, providing a fun and educational outlet for kids to learn about and celebrate Asian cultures through creative play.
From noon to 4 p.m., families enjoyed performances ranging from traditional Chinese music to dynamic K-pop dances. The food trucks, such as Eggroll Boyz and Dragon Cupbop, offered a taste of Asia with their array of delicious dishes, making for a truly festive and flavorful experience.
DJ Chika Takai, the official DJ of the Atlanta Hawks, energized the crowd with music throughout the day, while performances like the Mongolian dance by ACDC and the Shanghai Opera added to the rich cultural tapestry of the event.
